While many technology jobs now function almost fully in English, progression in your career in Finland is still aided by strong usage of Finnish. 

TEK and Suomen Ekonomit are supporting the development of a pilot Finnish language course specifically for professionals wishing to be able to use more Finnish in their work life. The course is managed by TJS-opintokeskus and taught by Helsingin Aikuisopisto.

Participation in the course requires that the participant already has intermediate skills in Finnish (approx A2.3-B1.1). After enrolment, there will be an assignment to determine your level, from which participants will be selected. TEK has no role in who is selected for the course pilot. 

Topics on this course are for example:

• Emails, reports, minutes of meetings, cv, applications 
• Ways to express one’s opinion, negotiate, express your agreement/disagreement according to context, frequently used phrases at work
• How to reply to critical feedback, how to say unpleasant things politely
• How to advocate for yourself at work 

The course will last from 3.3. to 18.6., with lessons online every Monday and Wednesday from 18.00-19.30. The price of the course will be discounted (-70 %) for members of TEK, costing 100 € in total. The deadline for enrolment is 12.2.
