The number of student members joining TEK increased again last year compared to the previous year, reaching 5,206. This marks the sixth consecutive record-breaking year.
The last time the previous year’s count was not surpassed was in 2017, when fewer than 3,000 new student members joined.

What’s the secret behind this growth?
According to Vesa Taskinen, TEK’s Student Membership Officer, the growth can be attributed to both the increased university enrollment slots in relevant fields for TEK and the improved relative proportion of student members. Notably, the number of international and mathematical-natural science student members has seen strong growth in recent years, thanks to the efforts of TEK’s student liaisons, affectionately known as “tykit”: the Kumpula campus tykki and the Otaniemi international tykki.
