- When? In the spring
- Who for? Cross-disciplinary event, everyone is welcome!
- What happens? Traditional appro activities, meaning touring establishments that serve drinks at bargain prices (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)!
2. Vappuviinatvirosta
- When? In the spring, before Wappu (May Day)
- Who for? Cross-disciplinary event, everyone is welcome!
- What happens? A cruise to the beautiful port on the shores of Estonia. This cruise provides a great opportunity to get slightly cheaper drinks for your Wappu celebrations! The cruise itself features performers and other exciting activities for the waves of life.
3. City Orienteering
- When? In the autumn during orientation week
- Who for? Cross-disciplinary event, but especially first-year students are welcome!
- What happens? An event where first-year students and their tutors as well as other teams navigate to checkpoints all around the centre of Joensuu. A key element of the event is the outfit contest with awesome prizes for the winners!
Teekkaris in Joensuu
Cheerful Eastern Finland is now home to Teekkaris as well! The first tech students began their studies in 2023, and the very first Teekkaris of the University of Eastern Finland donned their caps on Wappu 2024. Local Teekkari traditions have yet to be formed, but the Teekkari dipping is quite extraordinary and hilarious!
