Pay rise deal negotiated for 34,000 university employees on Friday 24 March

This Friday morning, an outcome was achieved in the pay rise negotiations concerning 34,000 university employees.

We will issue further information on the content of the two-year negotiated solution when all parties’ governing bodies have deliberated it. The board and University Advisory Committee of JUKO, the Negotiation Organization for Public Sector Professionals, meet on 28 March.

The parties negotiating the universities’ collective agreement were JUKO, Pro Trade Union, the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL, and Finnish Education Employers.

The members of Akava trade unions on behalf of whom JUKO negotiates work in roles such as research, teaching, administration and management.

Negotiation timeline

This year’s negotiations concerning pay rises began on 17 January. They were part of the two-year collective agreement signed in April last year, in which it was agreed that the pay rises for 2023 would be negotiated by the end of January. The employee unions terminated the universities’ collective agreement on 17 February.
