TEK is here for you in uncertain times

|
News article

Recently, there have been many change negotiations in the workplaces of TEK members due to the tough economic situation. Remember to take advantage of the support offered by TEK.

Many TEK members are or will be faced with the uncertainty brought about by change negotiations, and some are also experiencing layoffs and terminations of employment.

Change negotiations are often stressful situations for the whole organisation, even if they do not affect you personally. For challenging situations at work, we offer personalised Auntie discussion packages. Auntie professionals include trained psychologists, brief therapists or psychotherapists.

In the workplace, you can also turn to shop stewards, supported and trained by YTN and JUKO, who represent senior salaried employees in change negotiations. YTN is the joint negotiation organisation of TEK and other Akava affiliates in the private sector while JUKO operates in the public sector.

Register as an unemployed jobseeker in the E-services section of Job Market Finland (Työmarkkinatori.fi) ideally on your first day of unemployment or lay-off and apply for unemployment allowance from the KOKO fund. Inform TEK’s member service about your situation to get a discount on your membership fee.

If you are unsure whether your termination has been legal, discuss the matter with a TEK lawyer. If you are over 55 years old, you can also apply for transition security allowance from the fund. We provide information, tools and coaching to help with your job search.

Full members can also get personal guidance from a TEK career coach. We recommend that you have your employment contract checked by a TEK lawyer before signing it.
