The new chair of the board of the Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK is Arto Timperi. Timperi is a serial entrepreneur and holds a PhD in Automation and Energy Technology. Timperi represents the council group Yhtenäisyys ja teekkarihenki. TEK’s General Council elected the new chair at its meeting in Tampere on Friday, 21st March.
The previous chair of TEK’s board Mari-Leena Talvitie (NCP) took up the position of Minister of Science and Culture of Petteri Orpo’s Government in January this year, which is why she stepped down as chair of TEK’s board at the end of last year.
“TEK is doing quite well. Membership is growing steadily, so there is no need for any major policy changes. Of course, the world around us is in quite a turmoil, and this has its own impact on TEK’s activities as well. TEK strives to be proactive and focuses, for example, on the lifelong education of its members and their wellbeing at work,” says Timperi.
“Entrepreneurship and internationalisation are important areas. Finland thrives on talent and technology. Finland must not be left behind by competitor countries. Cuts alone will not make Finland rise again. The quality of education must be high at all levels. Young people are our future – this is something we should keep in mind even in this global situation. We must believe in a good future,” the new chair adds.

Elina Wanne was elected as the first vice-chair of TEK’s Board. Jari Nummikoski will continue as the second vice-chair.
TEK’s current General Council has just over a year left in office. The next General Council election will take place in spring 2026.
