TEK's traditional labour market seminar was held 26–28 January 2024 on the M/S Gabriella ship between Helsinki and Stockholm.

The seminar was opened by Chair of TEK’s Board, MP Mari-Leena Talvitie, after which CEO Jarkko Ruohoniemi of the Technology Industry Employers of Finland shared the latest news from the employer side.

Following Ruohoniemi, Chair of Akava Maria Löfgren talked about the measures that Akava is taking on behalf of better working life and Akava’s objectives, especially in light of the current labour market situation, which is quite tense.

The seminar also featured a presentation by Executive Director Mari Keturi from JUKO, the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals, outlining the work of JUKO in general. As the main bargaining organization in the public sector, JUKO prepares the objectives for and negotiates and settles collective agreements on behalf of employees and officials working for municipalities, the state, universities and the church.

The second day of the seminar continued with presentations by TEK's own experts. TEK’s Labour Market Director and YTN's Vice Chair Teemu Hankamäki talked about the activities of the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff YTN and the outlook for the ongoing year. Several major collective agreements negotiated by YTN will expire near the end of the year, so a new round of negotiations will once again begin this autumn.

TEK's Salary Researcher Tuunia Keränen presented the results of the Labour Market Survey and the latest news from the salary advice service. The formal programme of the seminar was concluded by TEK’s CEO Jari Jokinen, who wanted to specifically thank all the committee members for the work they have put in on behalf of the entire member community.

During the event, the committees also held meetings and shared their plans for this year.
