SAK and STTK affiliates have announced a number of pressure measures in industry and services for February and March. These do not affect TEK members working as senior salaried employees.

Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions SAK affiliates (such as the Industrial Union, Service Union United PAM) and STTK affiliates (such as the Trade Union Pro) have announced a number of pressure measures in industry and services for February and March.

The reported pressure measures do not concern senior salaried employees and therefore do not concern TEK members in such positions. In the event of the announced strikes, senior salaried employees will remain in their posts and will not work on strike.

How do I know if I'm a senior salaried employee?

Senior salaried employee refers to a personnel group.

Senior salaried employees are typically specialists, supervisors, managers or work in managerial level posts. The duties of a senior salaried employees are characterised by a relatively high degree of autonomy and responsibility. However, senior salaried employees are not senior or top managers in the company/organisation.

What if I am covered by a SAK or STTK union strike and the strikes take place?

If a TEK member is covered by a strike, i.e. if they work in a company subject to a strike in a position where they are covered by a collective agreement subject to a strike and they decide to take part in the strike, the TEK member will be paid a strike allowance of €90 per day of strike, up to a maximum of five days per week. If the strike allowance paid by the union which has declared the strike is less than the above-mentioned EUR 90, the strike allowance shall be paid in the same amount as the union which declared the strike is paying.

The strike allowance may be claimed once the strike has ended for the member. The strike allowance must be applied for within two weeks of the end of the strike.

To apply for a strike allowance, please contact jaana.saaksberg@tek.fi. As a rule, grants will be paid within 2-3 weeks of the date of application.
