Among Akava’s member unions, Trade Union of Education in Finland (Opetusalan Ammattijärjestö OAJ) holds the largest membership with 113,982 members, followed by TEK as the second-largest with 79,362 members, and Union of Professional Engineers in Finland (Insinööriliitto IL) as the third-largest with 74,109 members.
TEK’s membership increased by 2,726 members compared to the previous year.

In relative terms, the Akava union that experienced the highest growth (14%) was Akavan sairaanhoitajat ja TAJA. TEK’s relative growth was 3.6%.
The majority of the overall growth came from student members, with an increase of 6,000.
Among Akava members, 56% work in the private sector, 21% in municipalities, and 9% each in state institutions and welfare areas. Additionally, 3% are self-employed professionals, and 1% work in churches.
Akava’s member unions include 127,308 student members who are pursuing their studies at universities and universities of applied sciences.
